Birds don’t sweat. When you see them with their mouths open, that is how they handle heat and humidity. Similar to dogs, birds do not have sweat glands. They equalize their body temperature through their mouths. Some species promote heat loss by fluttering their neck muscles while their mouths are open.
Birds don’t have breasts. I have callers who proclaim that they have fed a wild bird milk. Do not do that. All wildlife are lactose intolerant. They cannot process milk. That’s why birds don’t have breasts.
Birds can’t eat dog food. It binds them up, and they can’t poop. Callers tell me sites on the Internet promote feeding dog food to birds. Do not do that. It is detrimental to the bird.

Thanks for caring about the critters,
