Tarp Strings Are Deadly

Ever since I discovered birds tangled in tarp strings, I am acutely aware of getting rid of frayed tarps with strings flapping in the wind.  The strings are deadly to birds.  They get caught up in the strings and can’t fly.  Sometimes they use the strings for nests, which is deadly to babies.  Birds don’t recognize the danger of frayed tarps, and neither did I until I found birds which had died because of those deadly strings.

If you have stringy tarps, please do not use them where birds may access the strings.  I’ve been checking mine after winter.  Please check yours, too.  Ask your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Thanks for caring about the critters,

Patti
