I have had more calls on turtles this year than I recall having any other year. So far that number exceeds forty. They get in trouble crossing the road. Why? I have no clue. They don’t appear to be headed to a particular area. I am certain of one thing: Wherever they decided to go, that’s where they stubbornly want to be.
If you see a turtle crossing a road or appearing to want to cross the road, help it out if you can do so safely. Pull over, stop your vehicle, pick up the turtle, and place it in the direction it was heading on the other side of the road. Do not attempt to change its mind. Just help it get where it wants to go. You will likely save its life.
Thanks for caring about the critters,
Patti
