A few weeks ago I was invited to a meeting of the Menomonie Lions Club to share information about Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release. Although I was reluctant to go because I was concerned I would have to drive home in the dark, I responded to their eager invitation by attending. I was glad I did. The members were very interested in what we are doing to help the critters and asked questions that expanded their understanding.
Walking to my vehicle after the meeting my worst fears were realized as I attempted to navigate out of Wakanda Park in the dark. Finally I pulled over and asked a couple walking their dogs, “How do I get out of here?”
When I reached home, I vowed not to accept another potential after dark invitation again. However, the Lions Club members have proven that my acceptance of their invitation was wise. Since the meeting they have donated some foods that we badly needed, which are almost gone. I have had several contacts with them and am thankful for their offers of help. Getting to know them was well worth my coping with driving in the dark that night.
I thank them and you for caring about the critters.
